Salmonella or just a tummy ache?
For lunch/dinner today, I made myself some grilled chicken with a spice rub. The rub had cayenne pepper and chili powder on it, so it was quite spicy. When I was defrosting the chicken, I ran it under hot water for no more than 3 minutes, then I caught myself and switched to cold water. I figures a couple minutes in hot water would be no biggie. However, just recently, I've gotten some mild stomach pains, and I've had to use the bathroom a couple times in the past hour or so. I'm not sure if this is just a reaction to the spicy food or if it may me salmonella from soaking the chicken in hot water, even if it was only a couple minutes.
If you cooked the chicken thoroughly then you would've killed any salmonella that would've been on the chicken that you ate. No big deal there. And as long as you cleaned your hands and your workspace and were careful not to cross contaminate then you really have nothing to worry about there either.
Plus, if you had salmonella you'd be feeling a lot worse than you are describing. With salmonella you vomit up anything, and I mean anything, that enters your stomach including water. You'd have bad diarrhea, cramping, maybe a fever maybe not. You'd be very sick either way, you wouldn't just have a little bit of the runs. So most likely what you are experiencing is a little bit of a reaction to the spices on the chicken.
