Chocolate Flavor

How can I give my cake a chocolate flavor?

I have an old fashioned 123 cake recipe that I am going to make from scratch. I was wondering if there was a way to add some chocolate flavor to it without killing the recipe? I have chocolate chips and the cocoa baking powder but that's it. I don't want to just try it on my own without asking because I don't want to spend an hour making it just to kill the recipe!

Sure... you can always add a handful or 2 of chips. If you want to add about 1/4 c. cocoa powder, add about 1-2 TB. extra sugar too....but you might also want to add a dash more oil to the recipe to make up for the extra solid ingredients (or a squirt of chocolate syrup)
