Chocolate Almond Coffee
adding flavor to melted chocolate chips?
hello there!
i'm making some neat little gifts, and one of them is chocolate coffee spoons; simple plastic spoons dipped in chocolate to be stirred into your coffee for a chocolate-y flavor.
however, i was thinking that it would be neat to make them different flavors: mint chocolate, chocolate almond or chocolate orange.
would it change anything to just add flavoring or extract to the chocolate when it is melted and stir it real well?
I don't want to ruin it.

stirring in the flavorings would not change it as long as you use a concentrate. Extracts are just that, concentrated oils. Mint is an excellent idea, Almond extract will taste like amaretto, I don't know how well orange would go with coffee but it is certainly worth experimenting with. You may also want to try Raspberry, Blackberry, and Cherry. Try different liqueurs such as Tia Maria, Grand Marnier, Bailey's, B&B (Benedictine & Brandy) and Irish Whiskeys.
Good luck with those....some people may just like the spoons by themselves.
