Can I use truffle oil instead of olive oil?

I am making a spaghetti sauce and I don’t have any olive oil on hand but I do have some gourmet truffle oil. It calls for a 1/4c…….. your thoughts?
or would you recommend white wine instead?

The oil in the spaghetti sauce is primarily there for texture – replacing it with white wine will not improve the texture like an oil will.

Secondary to the texture – the olive oil is there for flavor.

Instead of olive oil, I would first look to replace it with any vegetable oil which may be labeled corn oil, salad oil or canola oil.

The truffle oil is just flavored vegetable oil – often it is actually olive oil. So you can use it, it will work for the texture – but the flavor will be different but I don’t think it will make the sauce that much different. You will taste it – you may like it. Think of it as sauce made with mushrooms.
