Where do the best whole vanilla beans come from?
There are so many to choose from, Madagascar, Tahiti, Mexico, etc., as a home cook, chef, pastry chef, an all around knowledgeable person, etc., what is your opinion about whole vanilla beans as to where the best bean comes from, the best tasting, etc.
Sad but true, I actually paid $15 for 1 whole vanilla bean at Whole Foods last year as my daughter had a recipe that called for it, and it was the only place in town that had it. I just recently found online 16 whole vanilla beans (premium-bourbon Madagascar vanilla beans) online for $14.95, and that got me wondering about the various locations and which was better, more flavorful, etc.
